The Trip & Fundraising

Dear Friends and Family,

As most of you know, I'm currently about half way through my MSN Clinical Nurse Leader program at University of San Francisco. Things are going great and I'm really happy with the program, the progress I have been making, and my future as a nurse.

I'm very excited to share with everyone that I've been accepted to attend a two-week immersion trip to San Lucas Toliman in Guatemala for the first two weeks of January. The project is charged with decreasing infant and maternal morbidity and mortality in an area with the highest MCH death rates in that country. Ten students were chosen to work with the San Lucas Mission and serve as assistants to local midwives and clinicians where we will perform prenatal exams and offer courses in health education. We will provide nursing services to a small parish hospital in town, several small clinics that serve the area, and also accompany midwives to provide care in local homes.

I am trying to raise $2,000 to cover the expenses for the program and travel. Anything that I am able to raise over that amount will be donated to the project to help purchase pharmaceuticals and supplies. I appreciate any and all help you are able to offer!

Thank you!
Carina
